New Executive Appointment for University of Cumbria

University of Cumbria has appointed a Chief Transformation Officer into the executive team.

The University of Cumbria is delighted to welcome Tracey Slaven in a new executive position of Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) from Monday 11 November.

As CTO, Tracey will focus on driving transformational change to deliver the university’s short to longer term strategic objectives.

In approaching the Chief Transformation Officer role, Tracey can draw on over 20 years of experience in leading transformational change processes and addressing governance and operational challenges across higher education, charity, public and private sector organisations.

Within higher education this includes both strategic and operational business planning, work on the size and shape of the student population, widening participation, and digital strategy. Tracey has overseen change projects and managed post-merger challenges in private, public and the third sector including the Scottish Government, Student Awards Agency for Scotland and the Countryside Agency.

Tracey joins from the University of Aberdeen where she has recently delivered a significant transformational governance project and implemented a project management methodology during her time as University Secretary and Chief Operating Officer – as well as overseeing all professional services directorates and leading work on risk management and resilience.
