Fulfilling our mission: Supporting People, Place & Communities

As someone who came through education from a non-traditional higher education route and who has experienced first-hand the transformational role higher education can have on people, place, and communities, I feel very proud and privileged to be the University of Cumbria’s Chancellor. Our university demonstrates a tremendous sense of purpose and commitment, in and for Cumbria, with reach and engagement extending across all aspects of Cumbria’s geography, people and economy.

Our students are young, mature, on campus, off campus, living at home, studying away, learning through working, learning whilst working, full or part-time, on-line, or flexible and all with one thing in common – to realise their great potential, despite their starting points, and to benefit others as a result.
