Cherry Tingle, CEO, Energy Coast UTC

In 2016, as the incoming Principal and Chief Executive, I joined the Energy Coast University Technical College (UTC) at a time of great challenge, both financially and in terms of student attainment and governance, with the UTC at that time being inadequate at every level. Within 3 years the UTC was graded Ofsted Outstanding in every aspect. The University of Cumbria has played an extremely proactive role in supporting this turnaround and success, from providing us with an experienced Chair for our Board, to providing provision, training and mentoring for our students, CPD for our staff and mentoring for senior staff. We continue to work closely together, for the benefit of the young people and employers on the west coast of Cumbria. The input from the University of Cumbria has made a difference to the lives of students at the UTC.
