Fulfilling our mission: Supporting People, Place & Communities

Brathay Trust and the University have had a close relationship for decades. We are neighbours in Ambleside and share strategic objectives for the future of young people and communities in Cumbria and North Lancashire.

Being good neighbours in Ambleside means taking opportunities to develop students using our shared resources and expertise, particularly using our access to Lake Windermere providing unique resources for students.

We are also ensuring that our partnership develops as the needs of both organisations change. Currently we are working closely with the Institute of Science and Environment focusing on developing high level entrants to the outdoor learning sector, and developing new approaches to our common interest of nature connectedness.

We partner with the Institute of Health to provide distinctive workplace learning for student physiotherapists as part of the Sport Rehabilitation Department,

Over a decade, our Aspiring Leaders Programme partnership has provided charity leaders for the community in partnership with the Business, Industry And Leadership Institute, drawing students from underrepresented groups in the community, and supporting them to high levels of graduation.

Looking to the future, we are focusing on community needs and positioning our partnership to have the greatest impact.
