As a native Cumbrian and education leader, I am fully committed to the County having its own, high-quality and responsive university. Under the leadership of Professor Julie Mennell, the University of Cumbria has not only developed, but it has thrived for the first time since its establishment. Furthermore, the University has garnered substantial investment which will make it one of the UK’s most iconic universities with state-of-the-art facilities.

What has particularly impressed me during Professor Mennell’s tenure are the partnerships which have been built with other education institutions and employers, embedding the University at the heart of the County and ensuring it meets the needs of employers both current and future.

I have no doubt that the University of Cumbria will continue on its progressive path and will prosper in future years. It is exceptionally impressive.
