Professor Mary Morrell PhD, Imperial College London, Cumbria School of Medicine Lead
Partners and Partnership Working
Imperial College London and University of Cumbria have been working for over two years to develop the new Cumbria School of Medicine. As the academic lead for the new school, I am delighted that we have been able to bring together Cumbria’s experience in training nurses, midwives and allied health professionals and Imperial’s expertise in medicine and research to build a bespoke 4-year MBBS programme that will serve the needs of the county. Our partnership will attract medical students, faculty, and clinical researchers both from and to the Cumbria School of Medicine, working together to improve health outcomes for the people of Cumbria. Our first medical students will graduate in 2029. They will be skilled clinicians, with a deep understanding of their community – An actualisation of the University of Cumbria’s Towards 2030 vision, to transform lives and livelihoods through learning, applied research and practice - for now and for our future generations.
