University of Cumbria has embraced Multicultural Cumbria and our goal of engaging, empowering and enabling diasporas from all heritages and backgrounds to be inspired and reach out for a future they could only imagine before.

It has opened its doors to share its spaces to break down perceived barriers from diasporas and give hope to the vulnerable in its process to become a University of Sanctuary.

Words of support are important; however actions speak louder than words.

Three of my own children are the first of the third Pakistani generation to attend university because they could stay at home to study. We could not have afforded to do that if the university was not in the heart of the community right on our doorstep.
