The first cohort of Manx Care learners have begun their BSC (Hons) Paramedic Science Degree Studies at the University of Cumbria.

The Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills (Ofsted) has awarded the University of Cumbria a ‘good’ rating for its apprenticeship provision.

As part of its mission to drive higher-level skills across the North West and beyond, University of Cumbria is receiving a further investment to power its expansion of degree apprenticeships. 

During National Apprenticeship Week 2024, University of Cumbria is celebrating its 2,200-plus students who are studying degree apprenticeships and its collaborations with employers that are driving up higher-level skills regionally and nationally.

Ahead of National Apprenticeship Week 2024, the University of Cumbria is pleased to announce its expansion of its degree apprenticeship provision.

• The Professional Forester Apprenticeship programme offers an exciting career pathway into the forestry sector for people from all backgrounds
• The three-year, paid development opportunity launched in 2022 and marked the first time that a degree-level forestry apprenticeship had been offered in the UK, with two successful rounds of recruitment since opening.
• Applicants will benefit from academic studies in forestry management at the University of Cumbria alongside practical experience in Forestry Commission area teams across England.

More than 1,000 students from 50 different countries will be celebrating their academic achievements this month at University of Cumbria graduation ceremonies. 

New support package to help students with rising living costs.

Discussions included:

• The Cumbria School of Medicine being developed by the university and Imperial College London
• University strategic purpose of educating healthcare professionals including nurses, paramedics, midwives, radiographers, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists

In the early 1980s, Ian Sinker and his future wife Mandy were students on the Lancaster campus which is now part of the University of Cumbria.
