Love and lifelong friendships found in Lancaster have been celebrated at University of Cumbria’s winter 2024 graduation ceremonies at Carlisle Cathedral. 

A former Cumbria Chief Constable who today has a national role in improving the police response to domestic abuse and protecting people from violence has been honoured for her unwavering public service. 

That’s the motivational message to the latest students graduating from University of Cumbria this week. 

An Honorary Fellowship has been awarded to Bryndís Snæbjörnsdóttir on the first day of the University of Cumbria’s November graduation ceremonies in recognition of her contributions to arts, international research and practice. 

Each year University of Cumbria pays recognition to a graduate who has excelled in their career, supports their community and acts as advocate for the university’s activities. The Alumnus of the Year recipients are nominated by members of the university community and approved by its board. 

Carlisle Cathedral will play host to thousands of visitors next week when University of Cumbria graduation ceremonies take place. 

The first woman to lead Cumbria Constabulary is to be honoured at a special ceremony in her home city next month.
