A specialist programme delivering impartial support, activities and advice to 11-18 year olds about higher education and skills options has reached a significant milestone - supporting 25,000 young people in Cumbria. 

University of Cumbria has joined Fuse to bring fresh expertise in health inequalities, social determinants of health, knowledge exchange, and rural and coastal health - expanding the Centre’s ability to address the unique challenges faced by communities in these areas.

With shared ambitions for regional growth, the University of Cumbria and Enterprising Cumbria are shining a spotlight on the county’s new economic strategy.

Cumbria is set to receive its very own community flag, and residents from across the county are invited to unleash their creativity and contribute to its design. 

On 11 March, the University of Cumbria hosted an insightful day bringing together its senior leaders along with several key guests from the local community. Among the attendees were local councillors, senior leads from Team Barrow, and colleagues from BAE Systems. Together, they came to help shape the university’s approach to its integration into the Barrow area.

Dr Simon Case, the newly appointed Chair of Team Barrow’s delivery board, which is overseeing the area’s £200million transformation fund, has visited the University of Cumbria’s Barrow campus for the first time.
